The first thing I thought of when I saw the messy ass kitchen in the demo of Resident Evil 7 was the TV show, Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. A crow in the microwave, trash bags in the oven, worms all over the place, this truly was a terrible situation. What would Gordon Ramsey actually do.

Sewer Gators Season 1 - With Andre and Pete - Resident Evil 7 Demo

During the Resident Evil 7 Biohazard Demo, Andre and Pete discus the name of their urban legend / ghost chasing show, which has the title of "Sewer Gators". This is clearly paying homage to the alligator in the sewer of Resident Evil 2, along with the fact that one of the most common urban legends is Alligators living in the sewer (which is why RE2 did it).
